Review:

"Mercy Triumphs" is definitely a different read, but the story is still compelling. We can never be reminded enough of how God can do the impossible. Not only that, but we should also believe that He can do the impossible! This book may be fiction, but it still provides great truths that we can all learn from.

Life is filled with choices. We have a bazillion choices that we have to make every single day. What to wear. What to eat. What to drink. What to say. When to say it. What to think. What to do. The list goes on and on. Some decisions involve other people, most do not. But there is one choice we have that will not only affect us today but tomorrow and for the rest of our lives. So what do you do when life is too much for you to handle? When you're overwhelmed with situations that are beyond your control. What do you do when the bank account glares back at you in an angry shade of red? How do you handle a broken heart, disappointment, shattered dreams? How do you take that next step?

You can either worry about it or you can pray about it.

You can pray to God Almighty, Who has your best interests at heart, or you can worry about it, which is like sitting in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere. Worry doesn't prevent disaster, it prevents prayer! It does nothing but steals your joy!

So why not let's take it to God in prayer? Take it to the One Who is trustworthy. Take it to the One Whom you need not doubt. Tell it to the One Who already has the answer and knows the outcome.

Share it with the One Who loves you unconditionally - for always and forever, no matter what! Jeremiah 31:3 "...Yea, have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with thy lovingkindness have I drawn thee."

Cast it upon the One Who cares for you! I Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you." 

Cry out to the One Who is always ready and waiting to listen. Someone Who hears even the faintest of prayers, the ones you can't even put into words because your heart is so heavy. Isaiah 59:1 "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:"

If we prayed about the things that concern us as much as we worried about them, we'd have a lot less to worry about. So let's turn our worry lists into prayer lists.

Don't stress about it. Pray about it.

How are you this fine September day?  Doing well I hope.  Do you remember what happened 13 yrs. ago today?  It started off as any other day, but ended as a day America will never forget.

I remember...I was in my homeroom waiting for my homeroom teacher to come in, he was always late, but he had a legitimate excuse this time.  He comes in to the class and turns on his little t.v. he had mounted on the wall and showed us what was going on.  He was the only teacher with a t.v. in his classroom so we were the first students to see what was happening.  After homeroom, the whole school went to the chapel and they showed us the terrible reality on the projector screen.  I didn't understand.  I didn't know what a terrorist attack was.  I didn't think things like that happened in America.  I was naive.

Now I know what a terrorist attack is.  I found out things like that do happen in America.  I'm not so naive anymore.   But I still don't understand, nor will I ever.

Many people turned against God that day.    I hope those that turned against Him will find their way back and forgive Him.  He wasn't the terrorist.  He didn't blow up all those people.  He didn't take away people's loved ones.  The terrorists did that.  Could God have prevented it?  Of course.  But He didn't.  Just like He didn't prevent His Son, Jesus, from dying on the Cross.

Many people turned to God.  I have heard many testimonies of people who trusted Jesus as their Saviour because of that day.  I have also heard testimonies of people who gave their lives back to God because of that day.   Then there are the one's who'd already put their trust in God and were living for Him, but this day made their faith in Him stronger.

America had a rude awakening that day - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.  But God is still God.  He still saves.  He's still gracious.  He's still merciful.  He's still everlasting.  He's still all powerful.  He's still in control.  And He still loves you!  Let's make our faith stronger each and every day.  Don't wait till a tragedy happens.  It might be too late.  Have you trusted Jesus as your Saviour?  If so, then do you know God as a person?   Don't just know Him as your Saviour, know Him as your friend.  He loves you like you were His only child and wants a personal relationship with YOU!   Make God your friend.  TODAY!   He's the best Friend you'll ever have!

Here is a craft we did in Bible School last year.  Kinda' late right?  Sorry about that.  Just never got around to posting it.  I called it a Prayer Pillow.  The notepad has a quote on it that my brother had said in a sermon; "Faith isn't believing that God can, but rather knowing that He will."  The notepad in the pillow is to right your prayer requests and answered prayers on.  Do y'all do that?  Keep a journal of prayers that God has answered for you?  I have been doing it for a few years now and it's amazing how amazing He is!  I write down small things, big things, all things that I have talked to Him about and He has answered for me!   It's so awesome to go through and read them, especially on rough days! 

I encourage y'all to start a "Prayers Answered" journal.  Believe me, you won't regret it!  God will become more real to you than you ever imagined.  Just think about it, God listens to you!  But not only that, He answers you!  His answers may not always be the answers we want, but they're the best answers!   
(Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.")  I could never remember even half of the prayers He's answered, if I never wrote them down.  I'm sure there are some I've forgotten too, but I try to write down all that I can.

MATERIALS:  
                    Bandanna
                    Cotton
                    Ribbon
                    Glue gun/glue sticks
                    Material (for pocket)
                    Notepad 
 HOW TO:
         Pillow
               1.  Fold your bandanna evenly in half.
               2.  Cut 3/4-1in. slits all away around.
               3.  Tie your slits together; two side by side and two cross 
                    ways.  You will be tying 4 slits               
                    together at a time.  Leave a corner untied.
               4.  Stuff with cotton until it's as fluffy as you like.
               5.  Tie the rest of your slits together.
         Pocket
               1.  Cut material in a pocket shape.
               2.  Glue onto pillow
               3.  Glue 6in. length ribbon inside the pocket onto pillow.
                     (pictured below)
               4.  Glue ribbon around your pocket
         Notepad
               1.  Glue other end of your 6in. ribbon that goes in your      
                     pocket into the back flap of your notepad.
 DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry we've been a bit absent.  We just dropped in to encourage y'all to pray for all of those affected by Boston's bombing and the explosion in Texas.
God is still in control and He knows exactly what's going on.  I'm reminded of the verse I Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you."  God still cares about America and He still hears our prayers!

4.  The snow we had this week.  Ya, we know that everyone else in the world is longing for Spring, but we still enjoy the snow! :)

We just wanted to remind you that YOU ARE PRECIOUS TO GOD!  He loves YOU and made YOU just like YOU are for a reason!  As women and humans, we tend to compare ourselves to others and try to be "better" than others.  Why?  YOU should be thankful  for the qualities that you have.  Sure, some may not be bright and shining qualities, but they're YOUR qualities.  God made each and every one of us unique!  Just like there are no two snowflakes alike, there are no two humans alike!  Isn't God so creative?  I mean think about it, there are only billions, and billions of people in the world and they're all different!  Yet, YOU are precious to Him!  YOU are created by Him and YOU are loved by Him!  

Stop wishing you looked like so-n-so, or sang like so-n-so, or was skinny like so-n-so, or yada-yada-yada.  God knew what He was doing when He made YOU.  There are no uh-oh's with God.  YOU are created in His image.  So therefore, YOU are already beautiful!  Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."  

 God has a plan for YOU and YOUR uniqueness, but that plan won't be fulfilled unless YOU allow Him to use YOU!  Accept YOURSELF!  YOU will realize that when YOU do, the possibilities are endless!

Psalm 139:14 "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."  
Praise God, because YOU are fearfully and wonderfully made!  :)

Been missing us?  Sorry we've been a little MIA for a while.  But we are here today! 
We wanted to share an awesome sermon we heard, this past Sunday morning from our Pastor, with y'all.  His sermons are always great, but this one was well needed and was such a blessing.  That is why we want to share it with you all and hope and pray that you'll get a blessing as well!
The text verse was I Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." Seems pretty self explanatory right?  It is, but the hard part is doing exactly what it says.  "Casting all your care upon Him..."  As a human, I have a tendency to want to solve things on my own; take care of things on my own, but that's what we're NOT supposed to do.  God wants us to cast our every burden, problem, worry, whatever upon Him.  After all, He's the only One Who can really do anything about it anyways. 

Our Pastor used a variety of boxes for his illustration.  They consisted of all different shapes and sizes.  He used them to represent the many different burdens we may be carrying.  Some were big, awkward boxes and some were small, manageable boxes.  The point is, a burden is a burden and God wants to help us with those burdens.  The Pastor then went on to illustrate the "Casting" part of the verse.  He threw them.  We are to "throw" our cares onto Jesus, not in bitterness or in anger, but so He can take control them.  The problem comes when we "cast" some of our cares upon Him, but also keep some, so we can "handle" them.  I am guilty of this.  For some reason, I think I can handle some problems very well on my own....I CAN'T!  I just make a big mess of things.
Our Pastor also illustrated carrying all of the many different boxes.  He had about 6 or 7.  He couldn't do it by himself.  The big ones were awkward, the small ones fell off, and he couldn't see over the big stack of boxes, where he was going.  That's exactly what happens when we try to take matters into our hands and don't trust God to do it.  Everything falls to pieces and we can't see!  
Sometimes I get so caught up in my own worries, problems, concerns etc., that I can't see what others are going through to help point them to God with theirs. See, that's my biggest problem.  I'll "cast" my cares upon Him, but then later I'll try to take them back and solve things on my own.  Not good.
God cares for me and you!  Why else do you think He wants us to take our every need and care to Him?  He's in control.  He's the Almighty, and He wants to help you!  He's not too busy, or too far away.  He hears our every cry!  Psalm 77:1 "I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me."

Today we challenge , encourage you to cast your cares upon Him.  Let Him handle them and trust Him with the outcome!  You will feel so much lighter if you do, because He will be carrying your load, not you!

~ MEANINGFUL MONDAYS ~

1.  Everyone has a testimony.  A testimony is what others hear you say and watch you live to see if they match.  A testimony is really how someone else might describe you and your character.  YOUR TESTIMONY IS THE REAL YOU!  You could have a good testimony or a bad testimony.  It's your choice.

2.  Enoch had this testimony:  He pleased God (Hebrews 11:5).  Whenever anyone asked about Enoch, everyone's reply was, "He always pleases God."

3.  However, more important than what others thought about Enoch, is what God thought about him.  The answer?  Even God Himself said, "Enoch pleases Me!"  Wouldn't it be a great thing if God said that about you too?

4.  So what is it about us that could please Almighty God?  Faith (Hebrews 11:6).  Faith in God pleases God.  He loves it when you trust Him.  The more you trust God, the more it pleases God.  

5.  Enoch was the dad of Methuselah - the man who lived the longest upon the earth.  Enoch got to spend 300 years teaching, training, and mentoring Methuselah on how to please God.  Methuselah must have listened.  

6.  God enjoyed Enoch trusting Him and pleasing Him so much, that God took Enoch to Heaven without Him having to die.  This only happened one other time in the Bible.  It happened to Elijah (II Kings 2:11).

7.  According to the Bible, Enoch lived during a very wicked and sinful time.  Yet, he still pleased God.  This means you can too.  Do you?  When someone mentions your name, what do they think of?  Good?  Bad?  

8.  Enoch's testimony was consistent.  Enoch lived the same, acted the same, preached the same, talked the same, and walked the same everywhere he went.  He did not act one way at Church and live a different life at home.  Enoch always pleased God.

9.  People missed Enoch and looked for him after he was taken by God to Heaven (Hebrews 11:5, "...and was not found,...").  Others are always watching you.  You probably do not know everyone that watches you.  What do they think of you?  This old, sinful, dirty world may not understand God nor how to please Him; but may they watch us and be able to say, "They certainly please God."

I found this in a book I was reading called "I Feel Precious to God" by Beverly Hyles.  Her book is really inspiring!  I typed this up and gave it to my Sunday School class and I thought I would share it with y'all.

DAYS WELL LIVED

                            Dedicate each day to God.

                            Accept yourself as a precious child of God.

                            Yield to the Holy Spirit.

                            Search God's Word for a verse for the day.

                            Work hard and enjoy it.

                            Extend a helping hand.

                            Laugh a lot.

                            Live one day at a time.

                            Love everyone you meet.

                            Increase your interests.

                            Value each moment.

                            Express gratitude to God and others.

                            Dare to live to the fullest and best.

I get to do the bulletin board at my Church.  I enjoy doing it!  Sometimes it can be a challenge trying to think of something to put on it.  I try to change it every month.  This is what I did this month!  No, I'm not giving up on snow, but I thought this was very fitting and very true!  God is so creative and beautiful, isn't He?

  My Mother made the cute little bee and the grass.  My Dad helped me with the letters and helped me put them up.  My sister provided the pipe cleaner and my brother gave me the verse I was looking for.  I made the flowers out of tissue paper and pipe cleaner.  I am so blessed to have a family that is always willing to help me! 

Guess what, it snowed on Sunday!  Yippee!  Dixie and I were so excited.  As soon as Church was over we ran outside and started enjoying the beautiful snow.  If you looked straight up into the sky, it looked like a snow globe!  It was extremely beautiful!  :)  Just like it's Creator!  

Dixie and I have been praying for snow for like ever!  We have gotten some flurries here and there, but nothing like we're use to.  We grew up in Indiana where snow was an everyday thing for about 6 months out of the year.  Now we live in Tennessee where snow is practically a stranger.  :(  

Last year we had lots of snow!  We would get blamed every time it snowed, because everyone knew we had been praying for it.  Of course, we didn't mind.   This year though, is a different story.  I guess God is   a) teaching us to be patient  b) increasing our prayer life or  c) both.  Hopefully, we are learning!  

Well I didn't get some pictures of Sunday's snow, but here are some pictures of an earlier snow we had this year.     

I know, I know it's not much, but I'll take what I can get.  In case you can't tell, the white layer is the snow.  :)
