Perfect book to read around the holidays.  This read is full of holiday spirit and the true meaning of Christmas - Jesus Christ!  I have never read Cynthia Ruchti's work before, but I sure hope to read more of her books!  I was captivated by this story on page one.  Cynthia Ruchti wrote in such a way that I felt like I was scrunched up in that cabin with the other twenty Binders.  

I love how the Binders were so close.  It reminded me of my family and then some parts, I wished my family was more like the Binders.  The contrast between the Binders family and Katie's family was such a vast difference, it reminded me how blessed I am to have a close family.

Katie was too hard on herself, but then aren't we all? Micah was seemingly perfect and wonderful.  The kind of guy girls can only dream of, it seems.  I loved the grandparents relationship.  Very similar to my own grandparents.

A beautiful story to match the beautiful scenery of the cover!  Definitely going on my "to keep" shelf!

"Another Way Home"

Dallas & Danae have been praying for a baby for a long time.  Danae is ready to consider adoption, but Dallas will not even think about doing so.

Needing something to occupy her time and keep her mind off of their big empty house, she volunteers at the newly opened women's shelter.  There she meets Misty & Austin, who are trying to escape Misty's abusive husband.  She finds herself being drawn into their turbulent and she pulls Dallas in with her.

Misty goes home for the Thanksgiving weekend to visit her family, but she doesn't want to take Austin with her.  So she asks Dallas and Danae to keep him until she returns.  Misty is late returning and they soon learn a tragedy has occurred.

Danae finds her prayers being answered in a way she never thought of.

I enjoyed book #3 of the Chicory Inn Novel series.  This book concentrates on the daughter Danae and her husband Dallas.  Life doesn't always seem fair and that's how it feels to Danae.  She longs for a baby.  Her sisters both have children, but God doesn't seem to hear her cries for just one child.  But He has heard Danae's cries and chooses to answer them using unusual circumstances.  When Danae lets go and lets God, she receives the answer she's been longing for.  It seems that God does this often, but we must learn to let go first.  God's ways are not always our ways and He sometimes uses tragedy for good.

"Ties That Bind"

For twenty years, Ariana Brenneman has lived in her parents house and followed the Old Amish Ways.  She has two goals in life:  1) to open a cafe, so she can help support her family and 2) to keep other Amish from being lured into the Englisch life by Quill Schalabach.

Quill once held a very special place in Ariana's heart, until he and her best friend, Frieda ran away together.  Even though Ariana now has another beau, she still carries the wound of his betrayal.  Now for some reason he is back.  Probably to help some other Amish leave the fold.  Ariana fears it be her younger sister.

In spite of how things seem, Quill still cares about Ariana and longs to protect her.  But somethings even Quill cannot protect her from.  It seems as if he is helping to turn her life upside down.  Can she ever forgive him?

This book is an interesting read with many twists and turns and unexpected happenings.  Sometimes it seems as if it may be better not to bring up old mistakes.

"Falling Like Snowflakes"

This book tells a beautiful story about faith, love, family, trust and letting go of fear.  I was swept away from page one with this lovely novel.  The characters were all likable and jelled very well together.  Since this book takes place during winter and they celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, I loved this book even more!  

While you may think this book would be predictable, it isn't.  The end result was expected, but the way it came together wasn't.  

Eden had a hard life, but in this book, everything turns out perfect for her.  I LOVE books that have a happy ending.  

There was also some unexpected suspense throughout the whole book.  Looking at the cover you wouldn't think that this was a suspense book, but it was!  It was written very well! 

"Falling Like Snowflakes" would be a new favorite of mine, however, I did NOT appreciate all of the language in a Christian fiction book.  Really?  Is it necessary?  NO!  The language really disappointed me, even if it was "slang".  I especially when God's name was taken in vain.  Unacceptable.  

Hopefully the next book will be just a good of a story but without the language!

This book has a very interesting story line.  One that intrigued me.  I have always enjoyed reading about the WWII era and thought this would be different.  Well, it was different, but unfortunately, it didn't click with me.  Keeping track of the two different timelines was confusing and hard to keep up with and kind of weird.

I'm just not one for science fiction.  But if you enjoy science fiction, then you should definitely read this book.

This book is filled with adventure from page one.  It keeps your attention and the pages turning.  I can't ever remember reading a book that involved an earthquake before, so I enjoyed the different story line from that perspective.  

I didn't appreciate the language that was dropped in here and there.  

I loved Scout and the relationship he and Cal had.

Cal heard a car pull into his driveway. Going by the sound of the engine, he figured it was a sports car. He thought the staid and presumably conservative doctor would’ve driven a practical sedan. For a few seconds, he wondered if his visitor was someone else.
He hobbled over to the window and squinted through the blinds in time to see the doctor climb out of a spiffy yellow Miata. She managed to do it gracefully despite her height.
As he watched, she noticed his personal car, a classic Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet he’d bought on a whim after leaving Lincoln. She tucked her hands in her back pockets and slowly circled it, stopping to peer in through the driver’s window before stepping back and giving his car a final appreciative look.
Well, what do you know? The doc likes fast cars.
Jessica Hansen looked much as he remembered her from the quake site. But a cleaned-up version. Seeing her in jeans, low-heeled sandals and a tank top made her seem more…approachable. The thing that struck him most was her hair—long, loose and cascading down her back. It seemed so incongruous with the prim and proper doctor he assumed her to be. Gorgeous hair, clearly intelligent and a fondness for dogs and cars. How could a guy not be captivated?
