"The Calling"
Suzanne Woods Fisher

Bethany Schrock is in for the shock of her life.  The Amish family she is living with turns out not to be hers.   What's more upsetting is she is not Amish, but English by birth.  she sets out to find her real family.  Why didn't they want her?  Furthermore, will her Amish boyfriend still want her?  Travel with Bethany as she seeks to unravel her past.

How will this change her future?

I enjoyed this book, except for the fact that it became a little graphic in one portion of the book.  I try to find authors I can read without the danger of this happening; so I was disappointed when it did.

Read more about it here.

"An Amish Miracle"
Beth Wiseman
Ruth Reid
Mary Ellis

An Amish Miracle is 3 stories in 1.  But they all take place in the same community.  Always In My Heart is about a tragedy that turns into an answer to prayer.  It also shows the need to be forgiving.

Always His Providence tells of how the Lord takes care of us even when we don't recognize it right away.

Always Beautiful is a story about how what's in the heart can be more beautiful then how someone looks on the outside.  The inward beauty affects our outward beauty.

This is a book that I enjoyed reading.  It shows how we must trust and rely on the Lord to guide our steps.
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

"A Christmas Gift for Rose"
Tricia Goyer

Rose had been a devout Amish as long as she could remember.  So she didn't understand when her boyfriend, Jonathan, joined the English service during WWII.  Even though he was only in the medical corp and didn't do any fighting.  He had disgraced himself, his family, and her by going against their Amish beliefs.

So what a shock she received when she discovered she herself was an Englisher raised by an Amish family.

Will she stay Amish or decide to join the English world?  What about her biological family and the family who raised and loved her.  Rose has a lot of questions to settle before Christmas and Jonathan is out to help her, because he still loves her, even though she is not Amish.

What does Rose choose to do?

This was a touching story.  One which I enjoyed very much.  It was even more so when I discovered it was a true story!  I highly recommend this book.

"The Secret Keeper"
Beverly Lewis

Jennifer Burns is tired of the modern world and longs for a simple life.  She has been intrigued with the Amish world since a young girl.

Now in her 20's, she decides to leave family and friends and join the Plain People.  But first she must prove herself worthy.

While living with the Lapp family to learn how to be Amish, she discovers that Rebecca Lapp has a secret.  One that could bring down the wrath of her husband and the Bishop.

Meanwhile, Jennifer has become acquainted with a handsome Amish man.

If she joins the Church she would have to answer questions that would expose Rebecca.

What will she do?  If she doesn't join the Church, she will lose Andrew, but if she does she could disrupt an entire community.
Does she rejoin her modern family or turn plain?

I enjoy Beverly Lewis' books.  This one has an unexpected twist to it, in the fact that you have an English girl wanting to turn plain, instead of the usual Plain wanting to be modern.

I couldn't put the book down until I found out Jennifer's decision.

I received complimentary book from Baker Publishing Company for review purposes.
